ANSE LA RAYE, St Lucia — Police are investigating a deadly Anse La Raye shooting that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man late Tuesday night.
This incident comes as police continue responding to other violent incidents across the island, including the recent case where a teen found dead in Barre Denis was identified.
The victim has been identified as Shawndel Deterville, commonly known as “Sunny.” Reports indicate that gunfire erupted in the community at approximately 11:43 p.m., though authorities have not yet confirmed the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Deterville sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident and was transported to the Owen King EU Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite efforts to save him, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Information emerging from the investigation suggests that one suspect is believed to be in police custody as officers continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
