NASSAU, Bahamas — Blue Lagoon Island says the Blue Lagoon Island Adults-Only Beach will reopen with a newly renovated and expanded layout designed around sustainability, as the private-island destination near Nassau markets a quieter retreat built to preserve the natural landscape.
The company announced the project Feb. 5, 2026, describing the redevelopment as an effort to protect the island’s environment while improving the guest experience in a more secluded, adults-only setting.
“Our newly enhanced Adults-Only Beach reflects our commitment to both guest enjoyment and protecting The Bahamas’ natural beauty,” Managing Director Robert Meister said in a statement, adding that the island aims to balance relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion for different types of travelers.
What changes visitors can expect at the Blue Lagoon Island Adults-Only Beach
Blue Lagoon Island said the renovated adults-only area was created to elevate the guest experience while keeping the island’s natural rhythms intact. The operator described the redevelopment as being integrated into the existing ecosystem to avoid disrupting the surrounding landscape.
The company has framed the upgrade as part of its broader environmental stewardship messaging, pointing to conservation-focused initiatives as central to its identity. Blue Lagoon Island has also promoted sustainability programming tied to its operations, including a Blue Lagoon Island coastal cleanup highlighted in previous coverage.
For visitors, the adults-only space is being positioned as a calmer option within a destination that continues to cater to families and groups through its wider beach-day offerings.
Blue Lagoon Island also highlighted its conservation and animal-care credentials, saying it was the first facility in The Bahamas to achieve certification under the American Humane Conservation program and that it maintains Humane Certified status, with reaccreditation earned in March 2024. The company said it is also accredited by the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums and holds membership in the International Marine Animal Trainers’ Association.
Activities across the island remain central to the experience
The company said the Blue Lagoon Island experience begins with a scenic boat ride across Nassau’s waters before guests choose from a range of activities and amenities. Those include dolphin and sea lion encounters, bird viewing, and nonmotorized water sports such as kayaking and paddleboarding.
Visitors can also join an Eco-nature Walking Tour focused on native plants and the history of the natural lagoon, while families are offered an inflatable water park designed for children. For guests seeking a slower pace, the island highlights its white-sand beaches, calm lagoon swimming areas, and on-site refreshment options.
Blue Lagoon Island said the new adults-only area is intended to strengthen the island’s appeal for travelers looking for either a quiet beach escape or a full day of activity.
