Authorities confirm Dayna Tobierre was driving at time of crash
VIEUX FORT, St Lucia — Authorities have identified Dayna Tobierre of Desruisseaux, Micoud, as the victim of a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred Thursday afternoon at Sandy Beach, Vieux Fort, prompting an outpouring of grief across communities in the island’s south and east.
Emergency officials confirmed that Dayna Tobierre was driving the vehicle when it veered off the roadway and struck a tree along the coastal stretch. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult male passenger sustained injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
According to the Saint Lucia Fire Service, emergency crews responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8. On arrival, responders found Tobierre seated in the driver’s position and an adult male occupying the passenger seat.

Fire Service officials said both occupants were extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel. Tobierre was assessed at the scene and showed no signs of life. The male passenger was reported to have suffered injuries to his body, although the extent of his condition was not immediately disclosed.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has not yet released further details on the circumstances surrounding the crash. Investigations into the fatal Vieux Fort incident remain ongoing, as authorities continue to respond to a series of serious traffic accidents in the southern part of the island, including a recent Beanfield, Vieux Fort accident that also left one person dead.
News of Tobierre’s death sent shockwaves through her family, friends, and the wider community, with tributes pouring in on social media throughout Thursday evening and into Friday.
Boost Marketing, a local marketing agency where Tobierre worked as a senior brand promoter, described her in a statement as a “reliable, intelligent, and fun-loving soul” who consistently brought energy and professionalism to her work. The company said her contribution extended beyond her role, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike.
Friends and former classmates also remembered Tobierre as warm, kind, and full of life, often recalling her bright smile and positive spirit. Many described her as someone who made others feel valued and uplifted, both personally and professionally.
“She always carried herself with grace and genuine care for people,” one former schoolmate wrote, echoing sentiments shared widely across tribute messages.
While police have not indicated whether speed, road conditions, or mechanical failure played a role, the incident has renewed calls from authorities for motorists to exercise caution, particularly along coastal and high-traffic roadways.
As investigators work to determine the cause of the crash, Tobierre’s death has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew her, with many describing her passing as a significant loss to her community.
Further updates are expected as police release additional information.
