Police Officers Face Scrutiny for Absence at Soufriere and Choiseul Police Staff Awards

Soufriere, Saint Lucia – The Soufriere and Choiseul Police Staff Awards and Dinner recently took place at The Serendipity Roof Top Restaurant. The event, held on 15th June 2024, aimed to foster team building and recognize the outstanding efforts of officers who have gone above and beyond their call of duty. However, the absence of several officers has prompted an official investigation by the station’s leadership.

Inspector Kimroy Rene, in a memo dated 17th June 2024, expressed his disappointment over the significant number of officers who chose to be absent from the Soufriere and Choiseul Police Staff Awards without reasonable excuses. According to Inspector Rene, every officer attached to the Soufriere and Choiseul Police Stations was invited and expected to attend the event. The memo emphasized the importance of the gathering in promoting esprit de corps among the staff.

The memo, which was addressed to all staff and copied to the Superintendent of Police for the Southern Division, mandates that all absent officers provide a written explanation for their absence by 21st June 2024. Failure to comply with this directive will result in disciplinary action for insubordination.

“This event was organized to highlight the exceptional efforts of a few officers and partners who have supported the stations beyond their duties. The absence of numerous officers, without a reasonable excuse, undermines the spirit of unity and recognition that the Soufriere and Choiseul Police Staff Awards sought to promote,” Inspector Rene stated in the memo.

The Soufriere and Choiseul Police Staff Awards and Dinner is a significant event for the Soufriere and Choiseul Police Stations. It serves as an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of officers while fostering a sense of community and mutual support. The unexpected absences have cast a shadow over the event, prompting a closer examination of the reasons behind the non-attendance.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, through this memo, underscores the importance of participation in such events as part of the officers’ commitment to their duties and to each other. As the deadline for submitting explanations approaches, the affected officers are expected to comply to avoid disciplinary measures.

SOUFRIERE/CHOISEUL POLICE STATIONS INSPECTOR OF POLICE Kimroy Rene Royal Saint Lucia Police Force

TO: ALL STAFF CC: Superintendent of Police I/C Southern Division DATE: 17th June, 2024 SUBJECT: Justification of Absence – Re: Soufriere & Choiseul Police Staff Awards

On Saturday 15th June 2024, the Soufriere and Choiseul Police Stations hosted its Annual Staff Awards and Dinner which was held at The Serendipity Roof Top Restaurant, which is located on Bridge Street, Soufriere.

The objective of the event was to provide an avenue for Team Building and Esprit De Corps amongst Staff. It was also meant to highlight a few officers and partners who had gone above and beyond the call of duty to support the efforts of our stations. Every Police Officer attached to the two stations was invited and was expected to be in attendance at the event.

However, unfortunately, a number of Police Officers, without reasonable excuse, chose to absence themselves from the activity.

It is in light of the above that I instruct that all member of Staff of the Soufriere and Choiseul Police Stations who were not in attendance at the Staff Awards and Dinner without reasonable excuse, to submit a written explanation for their absence by Friday 21st June 2024. Failure to do so will result in these officers being sanctioned for being insubordinate.

Yours respectfully, Kimroy Rene Inspector of Police Soufriere/Choiseul Police Stations Royal Saint Lucia Police Force

This memo highlights the official stance of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force on the importance of participation in staff events and the consequences of non-compliance. It serves as a reminder to all officers of their responsibilities and the collective effort required to maintain the spirit of unity and dedication within the force.
