Police confirm two men shot in Bexon as island’s homicide tally reaches 62
CASTRIES, St Lucia — Two men shot in Bexon on Thursday afternoon left one dead and another critically injured, police confirmed, marking St Lucia’s 62nd homicide for the year.
According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, the attack took place around 4 p.m. when armed assailants opened fire on two men near an abandoned house by the highway. Both victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
One of the men died at the scene, while the second was rushed to a medical facility where he remains in critical condition. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The latest shooting underscores a violent week in St Lucia. Just days earlier, police responded to a triple homicide in Vieux Fort where three men were killed in what investigators described as a targeted attack. Hours later, a body was discovered inside a burnt vehicle in Canelles, intensifying concerns about the surge in gun violence.
Police confirmed that Thursday’s Bexon shooting is now the second major gun-related incident reported in less than 48 hours. Investigators continue to appeal for public assistance as they work to bring suspects to justice and stem the rising homicide rate.
