Police investigate Christmas eve killing as second man shot dead in Palmiste Soufriere
CASTRIES, St Lucia — Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the Palmiste area of Soufriere on Christmas Eve, where a second man shot dead in Palmiste Soufriere was reported as authorities confirmed another homicide in the community.
According to police information, the shooting occurred at about 8:00 p.m. on Dec. 24. A male individual was shot multiple times by an unknown assailant and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Residents in the area reported hearing at least ten gunshots around the time of the incident.
The fatal shooting occurred hours after an earlier deadly incident in the same Palmiste area. Police are also investigating that case, in which a Choiseul man fatally shot in Soufriere, homicide count reaches 82 was reported during the early hours of Christmas Eve.
This latest shooting brings the national homicide count for 2025 to 83, according to police data.
Officers attached to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force responded to reports of gunfire and later confirmed the death. Police have not released the identity of the deceased, and no further details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting were provided.
No arrests have been reported, and investigators have not indicated whether a firearm was recovered. Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
