CASTRIES, St Lucia — The Bois Patat homicide victim identified by police following Saturday’s fatal shooting in Castries is 26-year-old Nicholas Ryan Rogers, as investigators continue working to establish who was responsible for the attack.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department responded to reports of gunfire in the community around 5:20 p.m.
According to the RSLPF, initial reports indicated that two individuals sustained gunshot wounds. When officers arrived, they were informed that one of the injured men had already died.
Police said Rogers’ lifeless body was discovered inside a motor vehicle. A medical practitioner later pronounced him dead at the scene. In an earlier report on the Bois Patat shooting, it was reported that the incident had left one man dead and another person injured.
The second injured man survived the attack. Police did not release his identity or provide an update on his condition.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive or announced any arrests up to publication time. Investigators also have not said whether the victims were targeted.
Police said a post-mortem examination will be conducted at a later date as part of the homicide investigation.
The identification of Rogers marks the first major public update in the case since the shooting, which has added to concern over violent crime in Castries communities.
