St Lucia police confirm 6 shot in Black Mallet shooting, including 15-year-old boy
CASTRIES, St Lucia — Two people, including a 15-year-old boy, were killed and four others were injured in a shooting late Thursday night in the Black Mallet community, according to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.
Police said the shooting occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on July 17th, 2025, and left six people with gunshot wounds. One man was pronounced dead on the scene, while the teenage boy was transported to hospital and later died while receiving treatment.
Another male victim remains in critical condition. Three additional victims, including two women, are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and are listed in stable condition, authorities confirmed.
Law enforcement officials have not released the names of any of the victims. As of Friday afternoon, no arrests had been made, and police have not disclosed a motive.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force stated that a criminal investigation is underway and called on the public to assist with any relevant information. Details about the number of suspects or weapons used have not been made public.
Residents in the Black Mallet area reported hearing gunfire shortly after 11 p.m. Emergency services responded quickly, and officers secured the scene while paramedics transported the wounded to hospital.
This latest incident adds to a troubling spate of gun violence recorded across the island in recent weeks. Just days earlier, a man was fatally shot in Marchand, marking St Lucia’s 42nd homicide of the year, prompting renewed calls for urgent action from authorities and civil society.
Officials from the Ministry of National Security have not yet issued a statement regarding the Black Mallet shooting.
