Stabbing and fatal shooting mark latest wave of Marchand violence under investigation
CASTRIES, ST LUCIA – June 12, 2025 – A deadly outbreak of violence in Marchand on Sunday has left one man fatally shot and another hospitalized with stab wounds, prompting a police investigation into what authorities describe as a serious escalation in street violence.
According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), officers attached to the Marchand Police Station responded to the report around 9:30 p.m. on June 8, 2025. On arrival, police discovered two male victims with apparent injuries from separate acts of violence.
One of the victims, identified as 29-year-old Denver Felix of George Charles Boulevard, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU) by ambulance. He was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
A second male victim, who had suffered apparent stab wounds, was taken to OKEU Hospital via private means. Authorities have not disclosed his current condition.
Investigators have not confirmed whether the stabbing and shooting were connected, and no arrests have been made as of this report. The RSLPF has urged the public to assist in the ongoing investigation.
This incident marks Saint Lucia’s 30th homicide of 2025, underscoring a troubling trend in violent crime across the island. Just weeks earlier, Wayne Mathurin was fatally shot in Bocage, highlighting the continued spate of deadly attacks in the Castries area.
