CORINTH, St Lucia — Police are investigating a Corinth pedestrian crash after a woman and a 3-year-old boy were seriously injured when a motor vehicle struck them Friday evening.
Emergency services were dispatched to the area at approximately 6:37 p.m. following reports that two pedestrians had been hit. First responders provided on-scene assistance before transporting both victims to hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Medical information indicates that the adult woman sustained multiple serious injuries, including deep lacerations to both upper extremities, trauma to the back of her head, and abrasions across several areas of her body. The 3-year-old boy reportedly suffered severe head injuries along with additional abrasions. Both patients are said to have undergone surgical procedures after admission.
Health officials have not released official updates on the current conditions of either victim. Their recovery status remains undisclosed as of publication.
Police have not provided details regarding the driver involved. It has not been confirmed whether the motorist remained at the scene or whether any arrests or charges are being considered. Authorities have also not disclosed information on the circumstances leading up to the incident, including road conditions, visibility, or vehicle speed.
The Corinth incident occurred just days after a separate traffic collision in Vieux Fort that claimed the life of a young motorist and left several others injured. That earlier crash, detailed in a report on a Vieux Fort collision that killed a young man, remains under investigation.
The close timing of the two incidents has renewed public concern about road safety, particularly for pedestrians, as the country continues a national campaign aimed at reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities.
Investigations into Friday evening’s incident are ongoing. Police are expected to provide further updates once additional information becomes available.
