Police identify decomposing body found in Vieux Fort as Norbert Crick
VIEUX FORT, St Lucia — Police are investigating the discovery of a decomposing body found in Vieux Fort on Sunday morning, after officers responding to a report around 9 a.m. located the remains in the Beanfield area near the old landing strip.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said the deceased has been identified as 66-year-old Norbert Crick, a resident of Docamel, La Resource, Vieux Fort. Officers found the body lying on the ground in an area commonly used for charcoal production.
Police confirmed that Crick was a charcoal producer who operated in the Beanfield area, a largely undeveloped section of Vieux Fort where agricultural and small-scale economic activity is common. Authorities did not disclose who made the report to police or how the body was initially discovered.
The remains were described as being in a decomposed state. Police have not released details regarding the cause of death or the length of time the body may have been at the location. Those matters are expected to be determined following further examination as part of standard investigative procedures.
Officers secured the scene shortly after arrival, and the body was later removed for official examination. No information has been released regarding injuries, evidence, or other circumstances surrounding the death.
Police are urging anyone with information that may assist the investigation into the death of Norbert Crick to come forward.
