Castries, Saint Lucia – Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in Rose Hill, Castries, that claimed the life of 18-year-old Kyle Sylvester on Wednesday. Emergency personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) responded to a distress call at 12:34 p.m. and found Sylvester suffering from a stab wound to his rib area. Paramedics rushed him to the Owen King European Union (OKEU) Hospital, where a doctor later pronounced him dead.
Law enforcement officials have not yet disclosed what led to the stabbing, but initial reports suggest that Sylvester and another male, believed to be his brother, were involved in a dispute that turned violent. Sylvester’s death occurred less than a day after 37-year-old Irvin Ferdinand was fatally shot in Desruisseaux, Micoud, on Tuesday night. According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), officers from the Micoud Police Station responded to reports of gunfire around 9 p.m. and found Ferdinand, the brother of a police officer, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Relatives stated that Ferdinand was making his way home from a friend’s house when he was accosted and shot five times in what appears to be a targeted killing. Authorities have not disclosed any potential suspects or motives in the case.
