St Lucia’s homicide toll climbs to 54 in 2025 with Gros Islet resident killed
CASTRIES, St Lucia — A Gros Islet resident killed in a Dauphin Street shooting on Tuesday evening has been confirmed as the island’s 54th homicide victim this year.
Police identified the deceased as Josiah Harmond, known locally as “Ned.” The man was reportedly attacked by an assailant riding a motorcycle along Dauphin Street.
Bystanders rushed Harmond to hospital using private transport. Doctors attempted surgery, but he was pronounced dead at about 10:23 p.m.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said an investigation is ongoing into the fatal shooting. This killing follows other violent incidents across the island, including a recent fatal chopping in Balata, Babonneau, which also remains under police investigation.
