Police confirm Jacmel man shot dead in Coolie Town on April 2
COOLIE TOWN, St Lucia — A Jacmel man shot dead in Coolie Town on Wednesday night has been confirmed as Saint Lucia’s 14th recorded homicide for 2025, according to police.
The victim, identified as 31-year-old Kade JnBaptiste, also known as “Kape,” resided in Derrière Lagoon, Jacmel. Officers attached to the Marigot Police Station responded to reports of a shooting in the area at approximately 7:50 p.m.
Police reported that upon arrival at the scene in Coolie Town, they discovered JnBaptiste unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the torso.
Emergency responders from the Saint Lucia Fire Service attempted to administer medical assistance; however, a medical practitioner later pronounced him dead at the scene.
An official investigation is underway by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. At the time of this report, no further information regarding a motive or suspects has been disclosed.

This fatal shooting follows the recent death of Ken Joseph Ismael, Saint Lucia’s 13th homicide, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a concrete block attack in Choiseul.
