CASTRIES, St Lucia — Police have identified Chadwyn Lansiquot as the man charged in connection with the January 15 stabbing death of 25-year-old Leeval Albert, a killing recorded as the island’s third homicide of 2026.
Lansiquot, 40, of City Gate, La Clery, was arrested on Monday, February 2, police said. He was formally charged two days later and appeared before the First District Court on Thursday, where he was remanded in custody at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
Albert, who was from Soufrière, was fatally wounded during an incident in Castries last month. The January 15 stabbing, in which he later collapsed and died, was previously reported in a case where a Soufrière resident was fatally stabbed in Castries.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said Albert later collapsed at the Jeremie Street Plaza. He was treated by personnel of the Saint Lucia Fire Service and transported by ambulance to Owen King European Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police confirmed the killing was recorded as Saint Lucia’s third homicide for the year. The matter remains before the court, and no further details were released as investigations continue.
