Authorities investigate St. Lucia’s 6th homicide as man fatally shot in Desruisseaux.
DESRUISSEAUX, St. Lucia – A man was fatally shot in Desruisseaux, marking what is believed to be St. Lucia’s sixth homicide of 2025.
According to police reports, officers attached to the Micoud Police Station responded to a report of a shooting in Desruisseaux, Micoud, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered one male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. A medical practitioner on the scene assessed him and later pronounced him dead.
The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Irvin Ferdinand, a resident of Desruisseaux, Micoud. Authorities have not yet disclosed details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any potential suspects.
This reported homicide follows the brutal murder of Alana Bernard, a young mother of three who was gunned down in cold blood in Corinth, Gros Islet. Bernard’s killing, which sent shockwaves across the nation, has fueled growing concerns over St. Lucia’s escalating crime rate.
Law enforcement officials are actively investigating the latest homicide, but no further details have been made available. With six homicides recorded in less than two months, concerns are mounting over the rise in violent crime on the island.
