Allegations Mount in Saint Lucia CIP Crisis as Ernest Hilaire Faces Public Backlash

Castries, St Lucia – Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire finds himself at the center of the Saint Lucia CIP crisis after a damning report from Impact World Media alleged that he misled the public regarding contracts tied to Galaxy, a key player in the country’s controversial Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP). The report, titled “Breaking News: Ernest Hilaire Lied! Galaxy Contracts Exposed!”, accuses Hilaire of withholding critical information during his recent address to the nation, sparking renewed outrage and demands for greater transparency.

The allegations, rooted in evidence reportedly provided by Philippe Martinez, claim that Galaxy was granted control over CIP funds under the infrastructure option, bypassing essential oversight mechanisms. Critics argue that this lack of regulation has contributed to a deepening Saint Lucia CIP crisis, undermining public trust and raising concerns about how billions in program revenue are being managed.

Claims of Financial Mismanagement

The Impact World Media report alleges that Galaxy, under the CIP’s infrastructure option, managed funds offshore without meaningful oversight from the CIP board. This arrangement, critics claim, contradicts Hilaire’s public assurances of transparency and financial safeguards. The contracts, as outlined in the report, allowed Galaxy to operate with unprecedented autonomy, leading to questions about how such agreements were approved.

Episode 1 – Inside the CBI Corruption: Philippe Martinez Speaks

Philippe Martinez, who has been vocal about alleged corruption within the CIP, reportedly supported his claims with documentation revealing discrepancies between Hilaire’s statements and the actual terms of the contracts. Observers suggest that the program’s flaws reflect broader issues with the infrastructure option, which has become the focal point of the Saint Lucia CIP crisis.

Hilaire’s Speech Draws Criticism

Hilaire’s recent address, aimed at defending the CIP from accusations of corruption, has been criticized for focusing on the real estate option while avoiding key issues tied to the infrastructure option. His repeated attempts to shift blame to former Prime Minister Allen Chastanet have also been met with skepticism. During the speech, Hilaire mentioned Chastanet 27 times but failed to address allegations surrounding the lack of audits and missing oversight in the CIP’s operations.

Critics argue that this omission was deliberate. “Hilaire spoke about everything but the real issues plaguing the CIP,” said one observer. “The public is demanding answers about the missing funds and the contracts with Galaxy.”

Public Reaction: “Where is Our Money?”

Outrage among Saint Lucians has grown as details of the Saint Lucia CIP crisis emerge. Minerva Ward, a prominent political commentator, has been particularly vocal, calling on the government to account for USD $1.4 billion reportedly allocated to Galaxy for 14,000 passports.

“Where is our money?” Ward asked in a widely circulated commentary. “Saint Lucians deserve transparency. The absence of audits and the continued deflection of responsibility are unacceptable.”

Government Response Awaited

As the fallout from Impact World Media’s report continues, pressure on the government is mounting. With international observers closely watching the Saint Lucia CIP crisis, calls for audits, oversight, and accountability are growing louder. Hilaire and his administration are now at a crossroads: provide the transparency the public demands or face a deepening credibility gap.

For now, Saint Lucians are left with more questions than answers about the integrity of the program and the billions in funds allegedly mishandled. Where is the money?
