Police investigate after Soufriere resident fatally stabbed on Jeremie Street
CASTRIES, St Lucia — Police are investigating a case in which a Soufriere resident fatally stabbed during an incident along Jeremie Street in Castries on Thursday morning.
According to information from law enforcement, the incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. The victim sustained a stab wound to the left side of his chest.
He was transported to the Owen King European Union Hospital, where he later died. A medical practitioner pronounced him dead at the hospital.
Police identified the deceased as Leveal Albert, a 26-year-old resident of Soufrière.
Authorities said the killing brings the number of homicides recorded in St Lucia for 2026 to three, continuing a series of violent incidents reported since the country recorded its first homicide of the year.
Police have not released additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the Castries stabbing, and no details have been provided on suspects or arrests at this time.
Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
