Police investigate Soufriere shooting as Saint Lucia records 3rd homicide
Soufriere, Saint Lucia — A Soufriere shooting has claimed the life of 27-year-old Hank Monrose, marking Saint Lucia’s third homicide of 2025. The fatal incident occurred on Sunday night at Lenny’s Hill, Soufriere, and has sparked renewed calls for action to address the island’s escalating violence.
According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, officers from the Soufriere Police Station responded to a call at approximately 7:28 p.m. Upon arrival, they learned that Monrose, a resident of Palmiste, Soufriere, had been shot.
Monrose was transported to the Soufriere Hospital by private means for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries. A medical practitioner at the facility later pronounced him dead.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a deadly ambush in Marc, where 22-year-old Emen Emmanuel was fatally shot, and his female companion was critically injured. The back-to-back killings within a span of just over 24 hours have amplified concerns about the alarming rise in violence across Saint Lucia.
