Police identify victim in Palmiste killing as Choiseul man fatally shot in Soufriere
CASTRIES, St Lucia — A Choiseul man fatally shot in Soufriere during the early hours of Christmas Eve has been identified as 25-year-old Kenton Henry, as police investigate the Palmiste shooting that pushed the national homicide count for 2025 to 82.

Police identified the victim as Kenton Henry, 25, of Victoria, Choiseul. Officers said the shooting occurred in the Palmiste area of Soufriere at about 1:40 a.m. Henry sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The killing occurred during a period traditionally marked by family gatherings and holiday observances across the island.
Police officers attached to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force responded to reports of gunfire and discovered the victim with fatal injuries. No additional details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting were released by police.
Authorities confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident. At this stage, no arrests have been made, and no suspect information has been disclosed. Police have also not indicated whether a firearm was recovered.
Kenton Henry’s death has been formally recorded as a homicide, bringing the total number of homicides for 2025 to 82. The figure surpasses the previous record for the highest number of homicides recorded in a single year, based on official police data.
Henry’s killing comes amid heightened concern over violent crime nationwide, following other recent fatal incidents, including the case of a mother of two killed in Bexon that remains under police investigation.
The shooting occurred just hours before Christmas Eve observances were set to begin across the island. Police said further information will be released as it becomes available and is verified.
