MICOUD, St Lucia — Henaniah Joseph has been formally charged with murder following the death of his father, Jean Marie Tobolo Joseph, at a residence in La Tielle, Micoud, police confirmed.
Officers attached to the Micoud Police Station responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 11:30 a.m. on January 17, 2026. Upon arrival, police discovered Jean Marie Joseph unresponsive inside the residence.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on January 20. Medical findings determined that Joseph died from neuromuscular shock resulting from a traumatic brain injury, confirming the matter as a homicide.
Following the completion of forensic examinations and continued investigative work, Henaniah Joseph was charged with murder on January 21. He is the son of the deceased.
Joseph was taken before the Second District Court in Vieux Fort. He was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings.
Police have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. Authorities have also not indicated whether a weapon was recovered or whether other individuals are being questioned.
The charge stems from a January 17 shooting at a residence in La Tielle, Micoud, where police responded and found the victim deceased.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said investigations into the Micoud homicide remain ongoing. Officials confirmed that inquiries continue as evidence is reviewed and the case advances through the judicial process.
Police reiterated that all individuals charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The matter is expected to return before the court at a later date.
