Police probe Soufriere suspected drowning after body discovered at Anse L’Ivrogne beach
SOUFRIERE, St Lucia — The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is investigating a Soufriere suspected drowning after a 70-year-old man was discovered dead at Anse L’Ivrogne beach on Sunday.
Emergency personnel said the man was found lying on his back along a rocky section of the shoreline. He was later identified as Patrick Johnson Alphonse, a resident of Bois D’Inde, Choiseul.
Alphonse was transported to St Jude Hospital, where a medical practitioner pronounced him dead.
Police confirmed that inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. A post-mortem examination is expected to confirm the official cause of death.
