Global Economic Forum to Feature St Lucia Opposition Leader at IMF-World Bank Talks in Washington

Castries, St Lucia – In a significant move representing St Lucia on the global stage, the St Lucia Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet is set to attend the highly anticipated 2024 Global Parliamentary Forum. The event is a collaboration between the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and will unfold in Washington D.C. from April 15-16, 2024.

The Leader’s participation in this prestigious forum underscores St. Lucia’s proactive approach to shaping international economic policies and discussions. It is an opportunity for the opposition to present local concerns on an international platform, fostering discussions that could potentially influence global financial directives that impact the Caribbean region.

Scheduled ahead of the IMF and World Bank’s Spring Meetings, the forum is a gathering of legislators from around the world who will debate and discuss key issues affecting global economic stability and growth. The presence of the St Lucia Opposition Leader at such a gathering is crucial, as it ensures that the voices of small island nations are heard in dialogues traditionally dominated by larger economies.

This participation is also a strategic step for the opposition, demonstrating their commitment to understanding and influencing international economic policies and partnerships. As St. Lucia navigates economic challenges, including those posed by global economic uncertainties and climate change, engagements such as this are vital.

The St Lucia Opposition Leader will be out of state from April 14 to April 20, 2024, to partake in this significant event.
