CASTRIES, St Lucia — A Dennery man has been charged after police recovered suspected crack cocaine and cash during a search at a residence in Over the Bridge, in what authorities say is the latest Dennery cocaine arrest linked to anti-drug operations on the island.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said officers attached to the Special Operations Team executed the search on Sunday, March 8, 2026. During the operation, officers reportedly found a quantity of suspected crack cocaine and a sum of cash believed to be the proceeds of drug trafficking.

Police identified the occupant of the residence as Kayious Desir. He was arrested and later charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to supply.

Dennery cocaine arrest adds to anti-drug enforcement efforts

The charges stem from a targeted police operation in Dennery as authorities continue efforts to disrupt the movement and sale of illegal drugs across communities in St Lucia.

Police have continued narcotics and weapons operations in recent weeks, including a Castries Basin operation that resulted in a drug arrest and the recovery of knives, as law enforcement intensifies pressure on suspected criminal activity in multiple areas.

Specialized anti-drug operations typically involve coordinated searches, intelligence-led action, and the seizure of suspected narcotics, cash, and other items believed to be connected to criminal offences.

Police did not disclose the quantity of suspected cocaine recovered in the Dennery operation. No further details were immediately released about the circumstances surrounding the investigation.

Court grants bail following Dennery cocaine arrest

Desir later appeared in court for a bail hearing and was granted bail in the total sum of $2,500.

The bail was set at $1,000 on the charge of Possession of Cocaine and $1,500 on the charge of Possession of Cocaine with Intent to supply.

As with all criminal matters, Desir is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The matter is expected to proceed before the courts as the case moves through the judicial process. The charges also underscore the continuing impact of police drug enforcement activity on communities where narcotics investigations remain active.
