BRIDGETOWN, Barbados — St Lucia vs Guadeloupe ended in a 3-0 victory for St Lucia on Friday, Oct. 2, securing a second win in the 2026/27 Concacaf Nations League and strengthening the team’s pursuit of promotion from League B.
Caniggia Elva, Arkell Jude Boyd and Donavan Phillip scored at the BFA Technical Centre, with St Lucia establishing a two-goal halftime advantage before adding a third early in the second half.
The result followed a 5-2 victory over Bermuda on Sept. 28, giving St Lucia consecutive wins after its opening 2-0 defeat to Barbados. Across those two victories, the national team scored eight goals and conceded two.
Elva, Boyd and Phillip deliver in St Lucia vs Guadeloupe
According to Concacaf’s official match report, Elva opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 18th minute.
Boyd doubled the advantage in the 35th minute with a right-footed shot from inside the penalty area, sending St Lucia into the break ahead 2-0.
Phillip extended the lead in the 57th minute with a header inside the area. Guadeloupe finished without a goal as St Lucia secured its first clean sheet of the group campaign.
The victory also brought a different set of scorers to the forefront after the Bermuda match. Keegan Caull had scored a first-half hat-trick in that encounter, with Shevon Byron and Kurt Frederick adding the remaining goals at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet.
St Lucia’s involvement in Concacaf competitions this year has also extended to youth football. In January, the Saint Lucia Football Association named its squad for the Concacaf Under-17 Women Qualifiers in Curaçao, a separate competition from the senior men’s Nations League.
Promotion and Gold Cup places at stake
St Lucia’s group also includes Barbados and Bermuda, with each team playing its three opponents twice over a six-match campaign.
The stakes extend beyond the group standings. League B group winners will earn promotion to League A, qualify directly for the 2027 Gold Cup and advance to the competition’s new championship phase. The two best group runners-up will enter the Gold Cup preliminary round.
Barbados also won Friday, defeating Bermuda 4-1 at the same venue. That result, together with Barbados’ earlier victory over St Lucia and draw against Guadeloupe, kept the host nation unbeaten through its opening three matches.
St Lucia’s next assignment is a return match against Guadeloupe on Monday, Oct. 5. Concacaf’s published schedule lists kickoff at 3 p.m. local time at the BFA Technical Centre in Bridgetown, before the group campaign continues in November.
