Scattered showers expected as a tropical wave nears the region, according to the St Lucia Weather Report
CASTRIES, St Lucia — The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services has forecast fair to occasionally cloudy skies with scattered showers across the island today, as a tropical wave in the Atlantic approaches the Lesser Antilles.
At Hewanorra Airport this morning, conditions were partly cloudy with a temperature of 28°C (82°F). Overnight, the minimum temperature fell to 27°C (81°F). Relative humidity stood at 78 percent, with light easterly winds near 12 mph (19 km/h). No rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours, leaving the total for August at 53.4 millimeters.
Forecast for Saint Lucia
Winds will shift slightly, blowing from the southeast to east near 15 mph (24 km/h). The forecast calls for fair to occasionally cloudy skies, with a few passing showers throughout the day and into tonight.
Marine Conditions
Seas are expected to remain slight, with waves between 2 and 4 feet (0.6 to 1.2 meters). Tides for Castries Harbour are low at 6:13 a.m. and high at 1:17 p.m. For Vieux Fort Bay, low tide will occur at 7:40 a.m. followed by high tide at 2:24 p.m.

The Lesser Antilles will experience generally fair skies, becoming cloudy at times with scattered showers as moisture builds ahead of the approaching wave.
Tropical Weather Outlook
Meteorologists warn that the Atlantic High-Pressure System will dominate conditions across the region. However, added moisture and instability linked to a tropical wave moving westward at 17 mph (28 km/h) are expected to increase cloudiness and showers from late tonight into tomorrow.
Another tropical wave further east is advancing at 20 mph (31 km/h). Forecasters note gradual development is possible, with the potential for a tropical depression to form later this week.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Erin, a powerful Category 4 storm, was centered near latitude 22.8 North and longitude 70.2 West at 5 a.m. Erin is moving northwest at 13 mph (20 km/h) and away from the Caribbean region.
