Victim Identified, Post Mortem Scheduled
The victim was identified as Julien Cedrick Agian, 34, a resident of Massade, Gros Islet. Despite receiving medical attention at the polyclinic, Agian was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for a later date to formally establish the cause of death.
Unconfirmed reports suggest Agian and the suspect were involved in an altercation in the moments immediately before shots were fired. No charges have been filed, and those allegations remain unproven pending the full outcome of the investigation and any subsequent court proceedings.
Bellevue Operation Ends Gros Islet Shooting Manhunt
By Monday morning, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force had located and apprehended a suspect in the Bellevue area of Gros Islet. The arrest was carried out during a targeted operation shortly after 11:00 a.m., details of which were first reported by the Saint Lucia Daily Post. The RSLPF has not issued an official statement confirming the arrest or the identity of the person taken into custody.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Gros Islet Police Station at 456-3830. Anonymous tips can be submitted by dialling 555 on the Crime Hotline or through the RSLPF Crime Hotline Application, available on the Google Play Store.
Agian’s killing is the latest in a pattern of armed violence straining public confidence in northern St Lucia, a pattern that has drawn repeated concern, including a separate incident in which a Castries gunman opened fire on RSLPF officers days earlier, underscoring the mounting pressure on authorities to account fully for the surge in firearm incidents across the island.
