CASTRIES, St Lucia — A hotel worker sustained a gunshot wound on Wednesday night following a reported ambush along Morne Du Don Road, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 9, around 9 p.m., as the man was reportedly walking home when two unidentified individuals opened fire. The victim fled toward Rose Hill and later discovered he had been shot in the lower abdomen.
He was transported to a medical facility by private vehicle. His condition has not been disclosed by medical personnel or law enforcement.
Police confirmed that no arrests have been made. Investigators are actively working to determine the identities of the suspects and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Residents in the Morne Du Don area reported hearing gunfire around the time of the incident. Eyewitnesses stated the man was seen running after the shots were fired.
