SOUFRIERE, St Lucia — A Soufriere Deadly Shooting left one man dead and injured two children after gunfire erupted Sunday night along Barons Drive, according to preliminary reports. Officials had not released a formal statement at the time of publication.

Reports indicate the shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. when masked assailants allegedly opened fire, prompting a police response. The motive has not been established, and further information was not immediately available.

The deceased has been identified in reports as Kayson Simon, also known as “Bigs,” of Palmiste. His death has reportedly sparked outrage among residents as tensions between Palmiste and Barons Drive remain high.

Sources close to the incident said two male children sustained gunshot wounds to their legs. Another injured man remained hospitalized and was identified in reports as 24-year-old Vernel. Authorities had not provided an official update on the conditions of the wounded.

The reported involvement of children has heightened concern within the community, where residents have long raised fears over recurring violence and the danger posed to bystanders. Similar concerns were raised after a recent Dennery man was shot dead in Odsan.
