Castries, Saint Lucia – The Executive Director of the Saint Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, Brian Louisy, has expressed outrage following the Belair Goods Vehicle Attack, which claimed the life of 27-year-old CPJ employee Stephan Eudovique, also known as “Tall Boy,” a resident of La Croix Maingot. Eudovique was fatally shot on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, during a brazen daylight robbery in Belair, Castries, pushing Saint Lucia’s homicide toll for the year to 75.

In a statement to the St. Lucia Times, Brian Louisy described the incident as a heartbreaking reminder of the growing threat of violent crime in Saint Lucia.
“This is a sad day for the country, businesses, and affected families,” Louisy said. “I wish to extend condolences to the family of the gentleman who was a victim of this incident and has succumbed to his injuries. It is saddening, and it’s not something anyone would have expected or hoped for.”
He highlighted the rising trend of goods vehicles being targeted by criminals, citing a pattern of similar robberies in recent years. Louisy emphasized the financial and emotional impact of such crimes, which extend beyond immediate losses to include higher security costs for businesses, mental distress for employees, and tragic loss of life.

Louisy called on businesses to prioritize the safety of employees over material goods, stressing the need for improved strategies to reduce violence.
“The lives of team members are more valuable than the goods at stake. Businesses must adopt strategies to minimize the risk of violence and loss of life,” he stated.
He also urged the business community to work more closely with law enforcement and called for increased police patrols to deter criminal activity, particularly during the holiday season when crime often spikes.
“We’d like to see greater police presence and patrols all over the country. We need a concerted effort to ensure public safety,” Louisy said.
