Shantrese Dorsett St Kitts Nevis Crown Counsel Charged in High-Profile Murder Case

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 24, 2025 — The Director of Public Prosecution’s Office (DPPO) has confirmed charges against Crown Counsel Prosecutor Miss Shantrese Dorsett, following allegations of misconduct tied to the high-profile murder of Mr. Akeem Archibald. The shocking incident, which involved a semi-automatic rifle on July 20, 2024, has captured national attention.

Statement by Director of Public Prosecutions, Adlai Smith on the Charges against Crown Counsel.

According to Times Caribbean Online, the charges against Miss Shantrese Dorsett stem from accusations that she misused her position to assist fugitive Kieron Philip, also known as “Tall Up,” in evading justice. These allegations have further intensified scrutiny around the case and the judicial system’s integrity.

The charges brought forward by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force include:

  • Accessory after the fact to murder: Allegedly aiding fugitive Kieron Philip in evading arrest.
  • Attempting to pervert the course of justice: Assisting Mr. Philip in fleeing the Federation to avoid investigations related to the murder, unlawful firearm possession, and another unrelated attempted murder case.
  • Misconduct in public office: Utilizing her role as a prosecutor to counsel Mr. Philip in eluding authorities.
  • Corruption: Allegedly seeking to facilitate the surrender of the murder weapon through an amnesty program.

The DPPO emphasized that Miss Shantrese Dorsett, like any accused person, is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The Office reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the integrity of the judicial process and urged the public to refrain from speculation or spreading misinformation, which could undermine the trial’s fairness and lead to legal consequences.

The DPPO also addressed concerns regarding leaks during the investigation, warning that any law enforcement officials implicated in such breaches would face significant disciplinary and legal actions.

“This office remains steadfast in its commitment to justice, holding all individuals accountable regardless of their status. Fairness, transparency, and adherence to the rule of law will guide every step of this process,” the DPPO stated.

The case has raised serious questions about accountability within public office and amplified calls for justice. Citizens are encouraged to report any relevant information through official channels rather than on social media. The DPPO stressed that this aligns with the Federation’s national motto, Country Above Self.
