The St Peter constituency has been represented by Asot Michael for several terms, and his passing has created a political vacuum. The by-election presents an opportunity for political parties to contest this key seat in Parliament. Michael was a prominent figure in the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), and his death has raised significant interest in who will succeed him in the constituency.
The race for the seat is expected to be competitive, with both the ruling ABLP and opposition parties preparing their candidates. The by-election outcome could play a role in shaping the political landscape of Antigua and Barbuda as the nation looks ahead to future elections.
