VIEUX FORT, St Lucia — Vincentian nationals arrested in St Lucia during a high-stakes law enforcement operation have raised concerns about cross-border drug smuggling. Four individuals, including a Vincentian police officer, were detained as they disembarked from an unregistered fishing vessel between Sandy Beach and Savannes Bay. Authorities say the suspects were found in possession of suspected controlled drugs and restricted imports.
The intelligence-driven operation, executed by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), targeted illicit activities along the southern coastline. The presence of a Vincentian law enforcement officer among those arrested has heightened speculation about potential ties to organized crime networks.

Speaking at an official press briefing, Inspector Shervon Matthieu of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force confirmed the arrests and emphasized the RSLPF’s continued efforts to combat drug trafficking and illegal imports. He reiterated the importance of intelligence-led policing in intercepting criminal activities and urged public cooperation in reporting suspicious movements along the island’s coastline.
In a separate crackdown, officers attached to the Gangs, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Anse Ger, Desruisseaux. Law enforcement discovered a sawn-off double-barreled shotgun, leading to the arrest of a suspect who has since been formally charged.
Authorities continue to urge the public to assist in crime-fighting efforts by reporting suspicious activities. The RSLPF has encouraged residents to submit anonymous tips via the Crime Hotline (555) or through the RSLPF Crime Hotline App, available on Google Play Store.
The recent surge in drug-related offenses and firearm seizures has prompted heightened security operations across St Lucia. Law enforcement officials have reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling criminal enterprises and are expected to provide further updates as investigations progress.
