FULLERTON, Calif. — A devastating plane crash on Thursday left two people dead and 19 others injured after a small aircraft collided with a furniture manufacturing building in Fullerton, California. Chris Villalobos, an operations worker at the airport, described the pilot as a frequent flyer at Fullerton Municipal Airport. “He has a hangar here and everything,” Villalobos said, noting the tragedy has shaken the local aviation community.
First responders acted swiftly, battling the flames and evacuating nearby businesses. Eleven people were transported to local hospitals, while eight others were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, pending family notification.
Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung called the crash a “solemn tragedy” in a public statement, expressing condolences to the victims’ families. “The City of Fullerton is committed to supporting those affected and ensuring a thorough investigation into the incident,” Jung said.
